Abby has it all figured out; a new school, a new life, a place where no one knows about her past, but her best friend. She never expects to be splattered with blood and befriend a cliché. Travis’s reputation follows him everywhere. His fights are epic, his womanizing legendary, until he meets the one woman who doesn’t put up with him. One bet, one night, and their whole world changes. If he wins the fight she stays with him for a month, if he loses, he remains abstinent for one month.
Jamie McGuire’s book Beautiful Disaster grabs you from the moment you open the book to the moment you finish it. Beautiful Disaster is intoxicating, sexy and addictive. The chemistry between Abby and Travis is beautiful, sweet and combustible.
McGuire pulls the readers into the lives of her characters, tethering them in a relatable world of explosive, messy, heart wrenching love. Abby and Travis truly are a beautiful disaster. The dysfunctional need and passion in Abby and Travis’s relationship leaves you anxious and desiring more; but the redundancy of their poor choices is a bit taxing.
I recommend this book to those who enjoy a bit of drama, romance and action. Beautiful Disaster “is ‘rated’ by the author as mature for strong language and sexual content, and is recommended for ages 17+” (source: jamiemcguire.com). I agree and do not recommend this book for young adults and feel that 17 may be a bit young for some readers. We give Beautiful Disaster 4 out of 5 stars.
